Centres of Research and Innovation have been established in key areas to support Yr Athrofa’s work.

Centres engage in short, medium and long-term programmes of research to better understand the challenges we as educators face.

They evaluate existing research in specialist fields, commission new research, engage the profession in applied research, share outcomes and publish findings.

In addition, Centres of Research and Innovation provide the base on which professional learning and initial teacher education programmes are founded and lead applied research throughout the profession. A comprehensive programme of research seminars supports this work.

Centres include those dedicated to: Psychology; Languages, Literacy and Communication; Early Years; Mathematics; Educational Leadership; Wellbeing and Resilient Communities; Creative Entrepreneurship; and Physical Literacy.
